London born multi-faceted vocalist, songwriter, performer Paula Baxter aka ‘Miss P’ started her musical journey at the age of 6 influenced by artists such as Nina Simone, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. After graduating from Hammersmith and West London College, Paula went on to perform with various original and cover bands before being snatched up by Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) to sing backing vocals for one of his projects The Alfabet Tree. After several years of playing venues such as The Jazz Café, Ronny Scotts and the Astoria, the band released their debut album and embarked on a European tour. After mild success Paula left the band to concentrate on her original material, which lend her to relocate to Australia.

Once fully immersed in the Sydney music scene it didn’t take long before Paula was a vocalist in demand being called upon to lend her vocals to artists such as; Christine Anu, Rock legend Richard Clapton, ‘1927’, international Jazz artist James Morrison, Mark Williams (Dragon) Paul Mac, RnB pop songstress Jessica Mauboy and African artist Afro Moses to name a few. Paula has also performed as backing vocalist to international touring artists; Tony Hadley (Spandou Ballet) Belinda Carlisle (The Go Go’s) Josh Groban (USA) Ben Portsmouth (Taking care of Elvis UK) and Michael Franti (Spearhead) and shared a stage with the great Smokey Robinson during a short promotional tour. TV credits include The Voice, Mornings with Kerrie Anne, The Today Show, Sunrise, The Andrew Denton Show ‘Enough Rope’ Good News Week, Spiks & Spacks and Rove Live.

A budding writer and composer, Paula’s original music is a blend of reggae, soul, funk, disco, house and pop which she delivers with a unique vocal style that is sultry, soulful, powerful, distinctive and truly captivating. Her debut EP ‘Experience’ co -written with Paul Searles (Skunk Hour) was released in 2009 to rave reviews and the final touches have been added to her duet album due for release in 2015. With so many great credits to her name and a successful EP under her belt, it is no wonder Paula Baxter is fast becoming one of Sydney’s most in demand singers.
