Veena Rao Trio

A vocalist and performer with a unique flavour, Veena mixes Soul, Rnb, Pop and Contemporary Roots and Jazz. Hailing from beach-side Wollongong, Veena began singing long before she made her move to Sydney to pursue her dream. Her sound is hard to just put in one box, her voice has the magic to capture all audiences but her mastership in Soul/Rnb asserts her place as one of the best in the country.

As a session vocalist Veena spent a number of years in the UK where she worked in the studio and live with artists such as Roachford, Basement Jaxx and Soul II Soul, as well as completing vocal sessions for the TV show ‘Misfits’. After touring the UK with the Motown Revue show and becoming a soloist with acclaimed gospel choir Urban Voices Collective (the Olympics, Royal Variety show), Veena decided that it was time to be back in Sydney to continue her musical journey.

Since her recent return to Australia she has worked as full time singer with The Starlettes Girl group, as well as performing live shows and sessions with artists and bands such as Dami Im, Lionel Cole, Love Jonez, Gang Of Brothers, and Enormous Horns to name a few. She has lent her soaring rnb vocals as a soloist with Cafe Of the Gate Of Salvation, as well as regularly performing with the Hot Legs Tribute Show (Rod Stewart and Tina Turner), and recently completed shows as featured vocalist for acclaimed acid jazz outfit DIG.

Amongst all this she’s currently developing her original music, which she has showcased in a number of venues around Sydney with great success.

The music becomes real when you listen to Veena!
